The record for being the World’s Fastest Car is achieved by the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sports Car. This world record category is for the fastest street legal car in the world. The maximum speed which has been delivered by the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse was 408.84 km/h (254.04 mph) set on 6th April, 2013. The Super Sport version of this can go upto the top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph).

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport : 267 mph (431 km/h), 0-60 in 2.4 secs. Aluminum, Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16 Engine with 1200 hp, base price is $2,400,000. Although the Bugatti Veyron lost the title to SSC Ultimate Aero on March 2007, Bugatti challenged the record in Germany on July 10, 2010 with the new Super Sport and the Bugatti Veyron reclaimed the title of the fastest car in the world at 267 mph. The original Bugatti Veyron  had a top speed of 253 mph, priced at $1,700,000 with 1001 hp.

Production run of 30 of which 5, named the Super Sport World Record Edition, are capable of 267.857 mph (431.074 km/h). The other 25 Super Sport cars are electronically limited to 257.87 mph (415.00 km/h). The record attempt of the Super Sport World Record Edition was driven by Pierre-Henri Raphanel and was verified by Guinness World Records
