The tittle of world’s biggest mountain carving goes to the Crazy Horse Memorial, dedicated to the legendary Native American war chief Crazy Horse. At the moment, only a small part of the carving is completed (his face), but it’s already humongous. For example, you could fit all four Mount Rushmore heads in its skull.
When you think of huge mountain carvings, Mount Rushmore is probably the first thing to come to mind. Millions of people visit statues of four presidents every year in South Dakota; however, only 17 miles (27 km) away, there is another monument carved into a mountain that dwarfs the American presidents.
The finished sculpture will feature the chief sitting on a horse, and the total length will be 640 feet (195 meters) by 561 feet (171 meters). If you were wondering, that is bigger than the Great Pyramid of Giza.
The sculpture has been in the making for more than 65 years, and it has no deadline. The progress is extremely slow, and it will take many more years before the monument completed.
